Dr Matthew Carnie

Senior Lecturer

Matt obtained a first degree in Chemistry in 2003. He then spent three years working as an analytical chemist in Australia, Guernsey and the UK before completing an MRes (2007) and an EngD (2011) on the UV photostability of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells.

Matt is currently a senior research officer and Sêr Solar research fellow based at SPECIFIC IKC. Matt’s research involves new materials and processing methods for the development of low-cost hybrid-organic photovoltaics. His most recent work involves looking at processing of perovskite photovoltaics, in particular the effects of additives to the perovskite precursor solutions. Matt’s other work involves the use of small perturbation measurements, attempting to elucidate the charge transport and recombination processes in perovskite devices.
