Carol graduated from Swansea University with a degree in Product Design Engineering (2007). She gained a passion for research and made the cross over to materials engineering by completing an MRes degree with sponsor company Axion Recycling (2008) where she studied the mixing of waste plastics from electrical goods. She then completed an EngD sponsored by Tata Steel UK (2012) focusing on the study of corrosion using AC electrochemical scanning, namely the scanning vibrating electrode technique (SVET) and the scanning Kelvin probe (SKP). She continues to specialize in these techniques where she is now working as a post-doctoral Technology Transfer Fellow at SPECIFIC as lead of the battery group. Her main focus is now research into the optimization of battery electrodes for utility-scale energy storage.
