SPECIFIC launches the Wales Festival of Innovation

The Wales Festival of Innovation is set to showcase innovation here in Wales through a number of events, run by companies and academia. Taking place throughout June 2015, the festival will provide innovators with the opportunity to network with industry experts, showcase their products and services to potential customers and members of the public from across Wales and beyond.

SPECIFIC will be holding the launch event on June 1st with the next Sêr Solar Lecture. The Sêr Solar lecture series highlights research in solar cells taking place and brings in world class speakers to talk about their work. Dr Peter Holliman from Bangor University will present this month’s lecture on Developments and the Importance of the Manufacturing of 3rd Generation Photovoltaics.

Third generation photovoltaics – such as dye sensitised solar cells and perovskite solar cells – have the potential to revolutionise the renewable energy industry. Dr Holliman will share the very latest in the field and discuss the importance of developing product form and aesthetic appeal that is compatible low cost manufacturing processes.

The lecture will take place at 1pm at the SPECIFIC Innovation and Knowledge Centre, Port Talbot. The lecture is open for anyone to attend, so if you have an interest in photovoltaics and would like to hear about the world class research taking place in Wales, please register for your free ticket here.
