The team at the SPECIFIC stand; a delegate testing out the heated floor tile in action
On Tuesday 25th February SPECIFIC was one of many exhibitors from academia and industry at the Materials Research Exchange in Coventry. The event – organised by the Materials Knowledge Transfer Network to showcase outstanding materials research from the UK’s centres of excellence – was a great opportunity for us to share our work, find out what others are doing and discuss the latest developments in advanced materials.
The event aims to foster closer ties between industry and the UK’s excellent research base, encouraging further funding from both public and private sources. As well as opening up funding opportunities to advance research, it is hoped that the commercialisation of particular projects will be spurred by private equity support. A panel of eminent industrialists and academics were invited by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to review the research on show with the aim of making recommendations to both EPSRC and the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) for future opportunities in advanced materials.
