Silvia was appointed as Industrial and Innovation Engagement Fellow in September 2014 to lead SPECIFIC’s industrial engagement on PV projects. Silvia coordinates collaborative projects between industrial partners and SPECIFIC and creates new partnerships. She is also involved in establishing technology and product to PV commercialisation, and seeks funding opportunities.
Silvia has a PhD in Organic and Organometallic Chemistry from the University of Barcelona, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the application of biotechnology and organic synthesis in polymer chemistry, including developing new approaches towards the synthesis of functional polymeric materials at University of Nottingham. After working in the PV industry for over six years, Silvia joined G24i Innovations Limited as R&D Project Manager and Development Chemist, where she was responsible for the research, development and implementation of new materials and configurations to improve the performance of G24i DSSC modules. She was directly involved in the management of material supply chain, successfully led the bid-writing process for external research funding.
Silvia leads industrial engagement and pursues opportunities to collaborate, seeks funding opportunities and submits grant applications to identify academic and industrial partners to build a consortium.
As Programme Manager for a £6M EPSRC funded programme grant, ATIP, Silvia is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the project and providing updates and output reports.
